Hey first gear and reverse grinds sometimes!

This is true....the WRX Reverse gear uses the same synchro as Second gear.....so when shifting into reverse, shift the car into Second gear FIRST, THEN into reverse....this will allow the synchros to do their job when going into reverse......I had this same problem when I first got my car...and I asked the dealer about it, and they told me this same thing.....I have not had the gears grind going into reverse since....

when going into reverse from a dead stop, shift into 2nd gear for about 5 seconds, then go into reverse, and you should not get anymore grinding. As for grinding First gear.....well, when the WRX is moving, First gear will not engage unless the car is going really slow (this is for safety and to avoid over revving the engine), if you force it into first gear when it does not want to go willingly....you will get gears grinding. Easy fix.....dont downshift into first gear unless you are in a parking lot going really slow...or at a stoplight.....dont try to downshift into 1st to take a corner....second gear should suffice.
