help me identify my kartboy shifter

Hi, my gf bought me the kartboy shifter, bushing and **** for my x-mas gift. I went to install it today and i noticed that the actual the kartboy she bought me isnt as wide (where the long screw and blue bushings connects to the actual gearbox) There is about 1/4in left of the screw. This translates into the blue plastic bushings sliding around and feeling weird. Is this normal? Im thinking she messed up and got me a kartboy shifter for a 95-01 impreza. I think it should be tightly fitting like the oem shifter, the pictures on scooby mods install show it to fit nice and tight like the oem. Mine kartboy is all black, and even the ball is black. Can anyone please help. Im going to put my stock one on tommaro morning. Is the gap normal, should i be able to see the screw, or should it be no gap like the oem shifter.

I didn't know that the bushings were even offered in any color other than black. The bushings are approximately the same dimensions as the factory soft rubber bushings they replace. That's what I received when I ordered from Kartboy.

I also don't recall my Kartboy shift lever end being painted black.

Would you like to PM or e-mail Tom at Kartboy and see if he can identify what pieces you have?

Thanks , the blue spacers or bushings im refering to are the ones that are found in the actual lever, The ones that need to be reused, in the kartyboy from the stock lever. That is where the long screw goes inside of them. My kartboy is 1/4in smaller in width wheres thoses blue spacers go. This results in me being able to see that long screw, also it has some play when shifting. Is that normal for a aftermarket shifter, or should a ss be the same fit as the oem with no play? Would posting a picture help all those visual learners like me? Please help, ill email tom also incase i have to return it. Thanks alot everyone!

The width of the barrel (the part where the bolt goes through the lever) is wider on a WRX than it is for the older (and new Forester) shifters. You just have the wrong shifter. I wouldn't use it there will be too much slop and maybe even some rattleing noises. My guess is Tom will take it back and get you the right one. E-mail Tom.

If you look here you can see the years which goes where:

Someone got one used from e-bay and had this problem too. Since they were stuck with the shifter the only thing I could think of doing is to put washers on each side which I really don't think is a very good idea. However, this guy had no real choice other than sell it to someone that could use it.
