first gear doesn't go in smoothly? seems like it goes through 2 parts before in gear

my 1st gear doesn't seem to be smooth anymore when i push it in from a stop. seems pretty difficult sometimes. i have only tried launching the car a few times and i only ave 7k miles on the car. is this normal?

It has to do with synchro construction. It can get 'jammed' sometimes. Just lighten up on the pressure, then re apply it, with a little clutch slip. Should pop right in.

Mine does it too

I think it is normal. Mine has done this since new. My theory is that it is due to the old syncro design. You cannot just jam the gear shift in first like you do on a new Toyota or Honda, it takes a more deliberate and slower action to engage first.
