Exedy Clutch with Stock Flywheel
#2
if this will help??????? i had the dealership replace my clutch becasue of that defect when t gets cold, but the factory cluth and plate were made by exedy, and the had to replace everything, the plate the flywheel, the 8 bolts that hold it on and one other thing, it was small though i forget. i could not see it hurting you though becaseu all it is going to do is grab harder, and you might get that chatter thing happen, they said in this subaru performance flier if you got the sti clutch with the organic disc you may get cold chatter, if anything you should have jsuut gotten a lighter one and put it in when you changed out the other part(ooh when you say clutch did you mena the thing with the fingers or the organice disc peice) i forgot to ask. sorry

clutch
I had this done to my 00'GT wagon last week. Have about 500 miles on the Exedy clutch kit and stock fly wheel. It works fine and the pedle feels like the stock one did.
When the dealer pulled my tranny they found wear on the shaft the throw out bearing rides on. They sent it out to a machine shop to have bushing made and installed. I had 66,000 miles on the car. If I hadn't allready bought the Exedy clutch I may have had the stock one put back in.
My clutch was sometimes slipping in 4th and 5th gear at highway speeds.
I think now it may have just been the throwout bearing getting hung up.
I have a post further down in this forum.

If you have clutch shudder, it's actually the flywheel that causes it. Also, having a lightweight flywheel is nice. Great for both hard driving and just puttering around. Of course, it's certainly possible to just get the clutch disc and pressure plate and keep your flywheel.

Just change it all!
The performance you get from the Exedy flywheel is awesome for the price, and if you were even considering upgrading the flywheel in the future, doing it now while you are changing your clutch will save you big bucks (or tons of time, if you do it yourself) on labor. I was quoted labor costs of almost $500 for only the clutch/pressure plate change... the flywheel was only going to be $25 more.
