Downshifting AWD

Hey guys

I am new to this site and Subarus.

I had a question about downshifting when you're about to race. Do you guys drop the clutch fast as you can or do you actually feather it quickly when you downshift? Im asking this cuz it would seem so that when you'd drop it quickly you'd strain the drivetrain unlike a RWD or FWD where you'd have the wheels break loose.

Rev match, best on the transmission, puts you were you need to be and best of all, it sounds sick.

With the RA close ratio gears I just give it a small blip, I don't know if thats the same as rev matching

that is indeed rev matching.

Now the question is do you do it with the clutch engaged or disengaged?

yeah like what everyone said, rev match..it takes a little bit of practice and getting used to if you can't do it...after a while it becomes habitual even if you're not racing..i do it a lot when slowing down to a stop or a turn..

a turn I don't have to stop for I usually will downshift and then go through it, a turn I have to slow down a lot for I'll brake to 2kRPM in 5th (or whatever gear I'm in) and then coast to the turn while braking and then go into whatever gear is needed.

And I know "racing" means passing slow people on the freeway
