coverting FWD to AWD questions

It is my understanding that the Impreza was built on a shortened Legacy platform and that all of the mechanicals are the same. If that is the case, yes, it should work. Of course, you'll need the rear drive components also and the Legacy driveshaft will probably be too long.

Yeah sure will work but it will take some fab work. SVXers have been transplanting Legacy, Impreza, and Forester Trannies into their cars for a while.

I did Impreza FWD to AWD conversion using Legacy components.
Everything bolts on. You'll need to get Impreza drive shaft, which is shorter than Legacy one, that'all.
Also you need to change the gas tank to AWD one. Some people didn't have to go through this though. In my case, I needed to swap the gas tank.
Parking brake cable will be slacking but it's fine.
