when automatic transmissions start to go yes they do slip the same way but manual trannys just pop and thats it.. so dont worry if your transmission is going to break.. youll never see it comming

Well, assuming you still have the ol' crap-o-matic tranny in your car (WRX 5 speed), I wouldn't go too aggressive of a clutch as it would be more apt to break a tranny. I just had an Exedy sport clutch installed in mine. The pedal feel is close to stock yet it can handle more power. ACT also makes good mild clutches. Check out the review section on this site, it'll give you more info as to what clutch you might want.

I would suggest ACT. That is what I have in my wrx. Just make sure that you get your flywheel re-surfaced if you don't upgrade to a lightened one. By the way, I highly recommend lightened flywheels. My buddy didn't get his flywheel re-surfaced and he is regretting it now.

You only have a 2.2L It would be easier to find a used WRX flywheel, clutch disk & pressure plate. Have the flywheel resurfaced, do not remove more than 0.1MM when grinding. The runout limit is 0.3MM

If you get on the throttle and you can hear the engine working but it feels like you lagging it's the clutch. My Prelude did this when I had the stock clutch in it. I would hit about 3000 RPMs and the turbo would boost insanely fast but I wouldn't go anywhere quick. And no, it not because it was a Honda. It's got the VTEC ******!!!!

You will know when it starts to go. You dont have to be new to a 5 speed to figure that out. I went with an Exedy Sport Clutch and an ACT streetlite Flywheel for both times and have never been happier. Exedy is the number one clutch in Japan and the best AWD clutch. The Act flywheel was an awesome price and the Streetlite is a good weight.
