Clutch shudder and hard to get into reverse
I've had my 02 WRX since May and for the last few months, I've noticed a few problems. (Has around 11k miles). When it's cold (and especially wet) out, my clutch shutters and it sometimes grinds going into reverse. I know that it is pretty much normal for WRX for the clutch to shudder...but is it normal for it to grind when going into reverse...if I can even get it into reverse (sometimes it takes up to 6 or 7 tries to get it in...it just won't move into gear). Has anyone else had this problem?

clutch and reverse
yea subaru's, as incredibly well build as the rest of the car is....we have been known to have weak transmissions. I dont even know why anyone would by a short throw shifter for a stock tranny. As it is with the redline fully synthetic gear oil I have and stock shifter, I still shift faster then the sycros alow for and it grinds.
as far as clutch shudder and reverse go....rev up the car a little bit more, on the way up let off the clutch. And when tryin to shift into reverse, I grab the shifter from neutral and slam it to the right as far as it will go , then it pops back easily right into reverse. good luck.

i have these same issues with my MY00 RS and around the same times (wet weather and cold). i've tried letting the clutch out and i don't wanna rev it because it idles at about 1600rpm when i first start it. i had it looked at by my service dept. and got the standard "could not duplicate problem". now sometimes when im sick of messing with it i just "2-hand" it and yank it in there. it doesn't grind or pop or make noise of any kind when i do this either... makes no sense.
are there any actual remedies to this? i intend to buy a new light weight flywheel and clutch in about 3 months. should i consider a short shifter with the linkage (mainly for the linkage) and all like what subaru offers from the factory?
thanx in advance
