Clutch Break In (is there a proper way)
I just put in a new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel.
Is there a specific way that you should treat a new clutch and for how long?
I would think its a little like bedding in new brakes, but i really dont know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I've been told there is a break in period. Every clutch I've installed was 300 miles before hard driving. I would say under 4000 rpm for 300 miles would do you fine for the new clutch to establish a glaze free friction surface on the flywheel. This is what I would do.

I was told this today by my mechanic (who i've been working with for a very long time) when i picked up my 03' WRX with new Exedy Hyper Single & Flywheel. The most important thing is to keep shifts soft and smooth, no racing off the line, power slides, dropping it into gear, etc. This is to be done for the first few hundred miles until the clutch properly seats onto the new flywheel. Once the clutch is in gear though you can go 150mph, what maters is the shifting in and out of grear. So, be nice, and no hard downshifting either. After that you are good to go. Hope that helps.
