another crazy tranny swap
So, I found this 93 legacy turbo sedan, in beautiful cond., leather and all. It has 114,000 miles, but a blown auto trans. I can buy the car for $3200, and then an RS short-throw trans w/ differential and driveshaft for another $800. Any remaining bits and pieces would come from my current 90 legacy which has a bad third gear, 260,000 miles, rust, and dents.
My question is first, can this swap be done, and second how much should I expect to pay someone. I hesitate to do it myself, because it would be slower and maybe not get done as professionally. Any help, suggestions, or other possible options are greater appreciated.
Happy modering.

It should be possible with some effort. I know someone who's putting a manual transmission from an old Legacy turbo into his WRX after blowing his automatic transmission drag racing (among other things). There is some crazy mixing and matching going on with driveshafts and differentials, though, if you pay someone to do it it's gonna cost a lot. $3200 is also a LOT of money for a 93 with 114K and no transmission. If you have the time, my vote would be talking them down on the buy and then doing it yourself. You'll learn a lot in the process.
