6MT Short Shifter, Which one is it? Do U know?

I Just Ordered a 6MT short shifter for my STI from my dealer. Upon inspection, it measures the same as the stock shifter. The only difference I can tell is the finish of the metal. The stock one is a gold color, and the new one is tan/gray color. I even found a picure of another one with a large black barrel where the leather boot would be. Here are the pics. Can anyone tell me which one. The part # I ordered was: C1010fe000. The one I ordered looks like the middle pic, and the stock looks like the bottom pic.

Here are the pics:

Thanks in Advance
-Kevin

But I thought the sti 6sp was already a short shifter?

maybe you bought the same part? or the replacement part... instead of an upgrade.

The OE STI 6mt shifter is technically a short throw shifter, but Subaru makes shorter options available. Spec C/RA kind of stuff. I measured a JDM 6mt shifter tonight (gold) and it is 1/4" shorter. The throw is shorter, but barely noticeable. From 4-5 is most notable.

Still wondering which one?

With the old STi shift linkage, the difference wasn't in the shift lever itself but in the linkages instead. Scoobymods had an explanation of it IIRC.

Can't find it.

I tried doing multiple searches on Scoobymods, and had no luck. I don't want to go through the hassle of installing the shifter/linkage I purchased if it won't make a difference.

Thanks,

STi AFTERMARKET part number starts from ST########
so its probably not the STi aftermarket one.
It could be the one on stock STi.

Well, I think I'm gonna return it to the dealership and pay the restocking fee so I can get my money back. I removed the armrest extension today, and that helped. Just put in My Recaro Speed 5's, that dropped me lower, hug me in the turns, and are more comfortable than the stockers. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Thanks to all for the help,
-K3vin

That top one looks like it has the reverse lock out cord like the 6mt. That pic has been used for the advertisement of the 6mt short shift kit.

Just my observation

Yeah it does actually... weird. I was looking at the fact that the top one doesn't have the lifter for it. Just the thing to keep the shift boot "filled out." I'd try to compare what the shifter on mine looks like, but I don't know if it's the standard or the STi one.
