4EAT SportShift -- Any Expert Out There?
I've just taken delivery of a Japanese spec WRX (bug-eyed, 250PS) with SportShift 4EAT. Great car, great pace, one problem -- the manual's in Japanese. I can figure out most things, except for that small unmarked little button on the top left hand corner (at least on my right hand drive car) near the gear shifter. Any idea what it is/does?

probably the shift lock release. Over here you have to stick a key into a slot which is in roughly the same place to release the shift lock, but that looks like a different shifter, so in japan they might just have a button.

I'd agree, it's more then likely a shift lock release, most Autos have them located either there or lower right side.
By the way, since the US spec WRX doesn't have a sport-shift (Maybe the MY04 will?) what do you think of it? Did you also drive a manual before buy the 4eat? (trying to find a comparison)
Thanks, and hope you enjoy the car!
