Smile 1 more for the 4eat club.

2002 WRX 4eat. I love it, and have no problem saying so. After almost 5 years I am still happy with my choice (especially after spine surgery this year).

After driving horrible MT trucks at work for years I swore never to willingly drive a car with a clutch again.

Does the 4eat have disadvantages? Of course it does. Can you overcome most of them with technique and mods? Yes.

In the past I never had a problem keeping up with STI’s on twisty roads. And when I’m back on my feet again enjoyment will be had flying around back roads in 2 gear.

Although, most of them ( 4eat'ers on nasioc) just hang out in the Transmission forum.

New 2002 WRX 4EAT owner here, glad I chose it as well.

Anybody have a part list for the torque converter and recommended tranny cooler, and how much this runs after parts and install?

Prodrive Torque Converter from what I've heard. For the tranny cooler you can go with the majority that has Hayden, I personally have a B&M 19000 cooler for like 50 bucks. You can install the cooler yourself not too hard. But the torque converter will run you about a grand or so? Not too sure....just do some research.

Wink

^^^I say we burn him at the stake!

matsui56; ProTorque does good work. ( so I've heard) From their web site it's $495. Install fees can be any where from 300-$500.

As for tranny coolers, B&M, 50 bucks beat that.

I like B&M's stuff, good quality...as far as burning him at the stake, i couldn't participate cuz in my eyes, he's finally doing the right thing and getting a manual...which is what he should've done in the first place...

And that's it? Just the converter and cooler plus install?

Sounds too simple, for $1000 doesn't seem like that much to invest to make the automatic much more driveable.

Looks like I already have my tax refund spent

Well that's the thing I don't know how it is for a daily driver with the torque converter. Some argue it makes the car run bad for daily driving and some say its better...everything is debateable. But just get the tranny cooler first. Just make sure the cooler is a stack plated design. Good Luck

Talking I'm in the club

I got an 06 Imperza 4EAT and I love it. Plus where I live lot of traffic and traffic lights. Too much stop and go. Don't have worry about shifting gears all the time.

To my knowledge the USDM's and JDM auto's are different. They have tiptronic like some of the Audi's or BMW's do here in the states. So maybe their built for more abuse and "spirited" driving.

Wow that be cool to have in our cars, is there any we get that in ours cars (auto swap).
