What would be the point? It isn't a particularly powerful motor, nor are there many aftermarket upgrades for it. Just drive it with the engine mounted in the SVX itself, they are really interesting cars... No one belives it is a Subaru!

I think that there is a lot of potential there. I have no idea but I imagine that there are relatively little in the way of an aftermarket, but if it fits and still has enough room for a turbo, I think that that would be pretty interesting.

Since the Impreza is a pretty well balanced car, though, I imagine that you'd have to add weight to the rear or something.

I'm almost certain the motor would not fit. Take a look at this:

http://www.subarusvx.com/images/carp...k/black141.jpg

That engine fills the entire compartment, and I know from personal experience (I have driven an SVX and parked it next to my WRX) that the car's hood is a full foot longer than the WRX compartment.

It is interesting how similar the SVX looks to the Mitsu GT 3000, viewed from that angle. Also, the SVX I drove was in great shape (it was a dealer trade-in, going for a great price) but I was NOT thrilled by its power or pickup.

Wonder why they pulled that engine, someone must have wrecked the body pretty bad...

The SVX motor may or may not fit in an Impreza, but the Legacy 3.0 will fit no sweat. I think it's a viable alternative to an EJ20 swap, certainly cheaper, and any 3.0 6 cylinder has potential. it would just take a lot of custom work, solving problems on your own, and probably some fab too.

Well, even though I have the 257 in my WRX, I am consistently amazed at how torquey it is. I know it's in large part due to the 4.11, but it really makes me wonder what a 230 hp N/A 3.0 liter would be all about.

I wonder what the major differences are between the SVX and the Legacy engines are, both physically and mechanically.

I'm sure a junkyard 3.0 will be cheaper than a used EJ20, but it won't really be easier to do- it will still take a whole lot of wiring, as there's obviously no way you could use your stock ECU, like you can kind of get away with in an EJ20 swap.

Boy, I'm thinking that if you went this route, your only ECM option would be Motec or something.

Why not OEM?

Well, yeah. I mispoke. I meant to say 'the only option for me' because if I went so far as to put an H6 in my car, it would be built and have an 18" turbo on it.

OEM would work fine, but just seems boring.

Funny - I was just looking at somethings the other day and pictured Legacy 3.0 6cly in my Impreza 2.5 wagon.

Then installing two small IHI turbo's with custom FMIC - inlets on the right and left with a center output to the intake - revese the intake manifold so it faced the front of the car and mated up with the center outlet from the IC. I figure 6psi = 320-350HP
Then a custom 2.5" dual exhaust and an STI 6 speed trany.

Yeah I have over thought this but what the hell.
