hey john, i can help you connect the cluster. sorry for the misunderstanding. Like i had said before i never cut any wires and ignored the parking light that was lite up on the dash along with the dccd switch. if you want when you get your car back i can help you connect the cluster up.

hey no worries Anthony. It doesnt affect the overall outcome. I think your experience may be different from mine because you have an 04 right? I have an 02. I think that equates to different wiring but not sure.

you're the right person to talk to because yours is also 05 if i read correctly. Good to know about the fuse. One of the pins on this cluster is a bit bent. I'm wondering if what Anthony told me about the pin possibly being bent to a fuse issue is related to that wire. On your cluster, are any pins bent? I read about you snipping the two wires but wondered if any pins were affected.

when i got the gauge from ave, i think eric (daios) modified the pins to work almost as a plug and play. the only thing i had to do was shave down the harness guides.

You should have just went with a JDM V7 cluster John, non DCCD model. Matches better in bugeyes IMO.
And yes, if you don't clip a wire the radio fuse will blow, and you have to shave the far left harness plug so it will plug into the cluster.

ok. On mine it has only one pin bent. Which sounds like i need to verify that it does correspond to one of the wires i would have had to snip. Then i need to locate the other wire and possibly snip that one. Do we know what the two snipped wires do? I think one is the handbreak light and one is the DCCD. It may also be the ext temp which our cars dont have.

The ext temp should only work if you have a sensor hooked up to it, and our cars dont have them, you would have to buy one (and I say should because mine shows numbers for some reason haha). It should display just two dashed lines "--"
Snipping the wires doesnt turn off the DCCD light. I think there was a resistor you have to wire in to get it to turn off. I took the easy solution and taped some black electrical take behind the felt inside the cluster, so it just blocks out the light.

The wires your snipping are on the body harness of the car, not coming from the cluster, so the one you snip won't be for an ext. Temp or for DCCD. Since the cluster isn't made for your car, the circuit isn't complete so the lights come on "like" somethings wrong.

When I had a usdm sti cluster and with the jdm V7 one they both would display phoney temp numbers for some reason though I didnt have a sensor for it.
I'd come over John but I'm out of town till about 5 then I have to go help Tyler prep the rally car for some work it needs this week.
And yes the V7 cluster is similar, same green night display lights, some models have the programmable shift light, Tach is in the center.
