need info - STi drivetrain into '93 Impreza
i have been into hondas for the past 4 years, now i want someting a little nicer but can still be a sleeper. I want a 93+ impreza. I want to do an sti swap, i dont know anything yet but i did all my honda swaps so i think i can do it. Anything you can tell me will help pretend like u are talking to a baby. How much would the sti motor cost, do i need different engine mounts, does it bolt right in, can i use a stock tranny or do i need the sti one, do i need to do any shiftlinkage modifications, do i need different axles, etc etc thank you guys very much, hopefully soon i will know a lot more.

try searching, it will answer all of your answers
the swap is easy, its the wiring harness which takes forever. adam from lic motorsports ( www.licmotorsports.com )have it down to 17 hours, but it first took him 4 whole days to do it his first time.
use the search function

sti swap
first off, do you have the car you're going to be converting?
If I where you I would just buy a 98 RS and swap the ej22t shortblock onto the stock DOHC heads....basicly NO wiring. But your still gona have to buy the entire STI drivetrain(tranny, driveshaft, front and rear difs & axles and the brake assemblys) So far your lookin at about 2,500 for the ej22t block, turbo, IC,injectors,up and down pipes and full TBE. But as far as engine managment goes...your stuck between say, emanage for around 300 or spending like 1200 bucks on a link+ or other stand alone...+ the dyno time is EXPENSIVE! not to mention a decent STI drivetrain goes for 6+grand
If you want to save more time buy an uppipe from www.uniquemotorsports.com
then you wont have to replace the crossmember(takes more time then the entire engine swap and turbo install)Then if your brave I would port your headers. Its funny how much power you can free up with the help of a die grinder.(or hell even a dremel)
It pretty much comes down to how much time and money you wana spend, and what your ultimate power goal is. I personaly own a 98 RS. And I've been reasearching the best way to put the power to the ground for like 2 years now. Soon as I get back from Army mechanic training I'm going to finaly swap in that ej22t and start the conversion!
Good luck with your project, All I gota say is post post post, and search search search.
