EJ20TT swap, into 914 porsche, need info about engine
Hi im currently working on a project, of putting in a Japanese Spec EJ20TT engine into a 914 Porche, what i need to know is what car the engine originally came in, what type of performance parts are availible, and any other helpful info. Also if any one has, or knows where i could get a wiring diagram for the computer and engine harness. Any info would be helpful, because this is my first venture with a Subaru, but I think it will be a neat car since the 914 weights only about 2000 pounds and the TT engine supposedly produces 325 horsepower (280 rated, but i heard it is more like 325).

The radiator is going to mounted in front, angled back where the spare tire is going to be. And for the intercooler, which is the only thing i have a clearance issue with, I think im going to go with a spearco Air/Water, and mount it in the trunk area. The engine is already sitting in the car all i need know is my adapters from, kennedy which are 2-3 weeks out on orders. It is suprisingly going together with much ease.

Is/was it a 914-4 or 914-6? The 6s had larger brakes and better handleing.. I think you diffently need less body roll and better brakes.
Putting a scoop just over the roof going down against the rear window, into the engine compartment, to blow on the intercooler would look cool.. I think mounting the intercooler in the rear trunk would be too far back. You could make the verticle part out of Lexan so you could see through it.

I already have the engine so im not gonna buy a STi engine, The car is a 914/4, I would not want to go and do this swap to a 914/6 due to the rarity and price of one. But i am going to upgrade the suspension and brakes. And the suspension and brakes are the same from the 911, so A friend of mine has a nice set of brembo's for me .

I would try to make the intake runner as short as possible to reduce turbo lag. Remember the longer it is, the more volume it holds , thus the turbo has to pump more air into it to pressureize it and that takes time = lag

Im doing the same thing but with a ej22t closed deck built engine.
this is a mid engine car for those who dont know. the most practical intercooler would be a water to air since there is no way youre gonna pipe the intercooler all the way to the front the latest issue of exellence has a 914 with a hole cut in the trunk and an air to air intercooler poping out of it .

I would put the intercooler right in the engine cover, the black vented cover to access the engine. And I would duct some air to it either from over the roof or from around the sides of the car to the intercoolers location.

intercooler placement in 914
I am in the process of doing a swap in a bug convertable. As for the intercooler, Spal make a sweet little 7.5" fan and a pair will fit nicely on the cooler in a pull or push setup. They can be mounted directly on the front trim piece of the stock intercooler. Be careful of the screw length.

I want to mention that the person who originally posted this thread hasn't logged back onto the board since late May of 2003.

If you are interested in putting this on your stock EJ25, leave the boost at stock level due to the higher compression. It's been done.
I was just about to put everything except for the longblock up on ebay, but if you are interested, let me know.
Everything would be included, vacuum lines, intake/exhaust manifolds, injectors, fuel rails...everything.
Let me know your price and if it's right, it'll be on your doorstep in a couple days.
