98 to 99+ bumper swap possible?
Hi
I have a 98 RS with the small retangular tiny fog light bumper. Is it possible to change it to the 99+ bumper with the big round foglight? If so How hard is it to do the exchange? also do I need to rewire and new plugs for the foglight?
Thanks

I dont know about the rewiring, but you do need the 99+ front bumper beam to fit the bumper. Dont forget the other little lights you will need for it. www.subaruparts.com has the bumper conversion for sale on there, but its down for maintenance right now if you try to go there...

The least expensive way is to do it via private sale, or via a junkyard/recycler. The other option is the lightweight beam on that site, plus an aftermarket bumper... dont forget the paint job too.
All that money is why I probably wont be doing it anytime soon

I actually put on a 2001 bumper on my 98 RS...the bolts are at the same location so it was easy. I am pretty sure that the fog light wiring is the same too, but you need to buy the fog lights, the blinker, and the vents which cost me around 300 dollars total. You can also paint the vents a different color as well, or put in PIAA fog lights or clear blinkers. The 01 bumper looks so sweet, and updates the look of the car. The 98 front does not do our beatiful impreza justice.

subaruparts.com sells a complete 'kit' or whatever with all the parts you need for the conversion for about $600. Just paint the bumper skin and you're set. The whole setup includes the skin, beam, foglights, fog brackets, vents, and turn signals. Any of those parts that you can find used will save you money. The foglights don't need to be rewired or anything. There's nothing too difficult about the whole swap actually. If you ever decide to do it and need help, PM me.
