FS (MI) : 2005 STi RAW (Axis), FP Red plus

Updated Offer:

The rebuilt motor now has 21500 miles on it. It is running very will with the exception of the piston slap. I have decided to pull the motor and take it to Ron at Axis/RAW1Performance to have it refreshed. The car is still for sale, here is the updated offer:

$27000 Including a completely refreshed motor: re-coat pistons, new rings, new bearings, new timing belt & tensioner, new clutch plus the following performance upgrades: Ported heads & Pauter Rods.

The schedule I working to: Pull motor by 5/2/2010, Deliver it to Ron on 5/7 tear down and inspect, Ron to rebuild motor (5wks), re-install motor June mid.

I will photo and video document the refresh process.

Below are videos of the project progress:

I am considering selling my 2005 STi (not interested in trade or part out)

This car has been my project for the past 5 years, I purchased it new in 05.

Currently, it produces 378 AWHP on 93 octane (12.26 @ 114.2 in the ¼ mile) and 483 AWHP on race fuel (11.44 @ 123.6)

This past summer on a couple of road trips, I was able to get 29.72 MPG during easy driving.

Offer details:

Asking price: $27000

I have driven this car as my “summertime” daily driver. It has NEVER been driven in the snow or inclement weather.

The vehicle has 54000 miles on it. The engine (RAW/Axis) was built 20000 miles ago.

All modifications (exception of the engine rebuild) were performed by me with help from two of my sons.

I am a perfectionist… looking at the engine bay, you will struggle to tell the engine was ever pulled. I even modified the stock turbo heat shield to mount over the FP Red.

On a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being brand new, I rate the condition of this vehicle as 8.5. It has a few light scratches in a couple of places on the exterior and the interior is near perfect.

Modifications include:

Instrumentation: Prosport EGT, Autometer boost, Omori oil pressure, Innovate XD-1 wide band.

Performance: KS TECH 83mm CAI, APS Turbo inlet, FP Red turbo (8cm housing), Hallman MBC, APS DR 725 FMIC, Walbro 255L fuel pump, Deatschwerks 850cc injectors, Perrin equal length header, Ultimate Racing gated up-pipe (Tial 38mm 1.0 bar wastegate) Megan 3” cat-less turboback, Allstar Performance Catch Can, ACT 6 puck sprung clutch.

Regarding tuning… I tune it myself with significant help from: Shawn (Overdose), Ed at EQ Tuning, Jeff (crystal_Imprezav), John @ TDC and Tim (WolfPlayer). All software (StreetTUNER, RomRaider, ECU Flash), maps and tuning advice/help from me would be included in the sale.

RAW/Axis build detail:

I have photos, videos and more detail regarding this car on my webpage: http://TurboQueef.com

Drop me a line if you are interested.

Thanks,

Jeff

UPDATE:::>>>>>

Just received a call from Ron.. He received information from the head flow-master... that my valves are slightly bent.

Through the discussion with Ron, I deducted that using the flat foot shifting and launch control probably caused the slightly bent valves... so for those of us that like flat foot shifting and launch control... we better re-consider using it..... the flow-master was able to machine the valves to spec but thought it would be better for me to replace them considering the power I am planning to make.

I gave Ron the OK to order new valves... am going to upgrade to the Supertech Inconel exhaust valves in the process...

Timing update:

A couple schedule conflicts with the head work, rotating mass machining and a business trip Ron is taking have put us about two weeks behind schedule.

As usual, Ron has provided detailed updates relating to each issue and I am not at all disappointed with Ron for the schedule slip.

The schedule is VERY tight, but I am targeting to pick up the engine on the weekend of 6/25

300 miles to go until I can tune it for power.

As I am breaking in the engine, I have been dialing in the intake calibration... it was off a bit due to the head work. AFR's are at target up to 5500RPM and 14psi (current limits for break in).

This engine is using less oil than the last build.. 1300 miles on the oil and have not added any & still at full mark.

I now have 2700 miles on the refreshed engine.

Key points about this post:

1) I dropped the price to $27000

2) The improved head flow has maxed out the DW 850 injectors

3) The engine is making very good power and I have been able to dial in the tune for daily driving (no stalling out... very good throttle response and MPG)

4) The engine needs larger injectors to get close to maximum performance out of the engine. I have been discussing with Deatschwerks and understand they are very close to releasing the 1000 cc side feeds... I am on the list for early release if the have the need to do so.

5) Oil reports from Blackstone remain perfect... here is a link to the 1800 mile report>>> LINK

It was a bit of a challenge to get the tune / ported heads dialed in for daily driving but it is rock solid now thanks for help from Jeff (Crystal_Imprezav).

The new heads have improved the flow quite a bit... 21~22psi on 93 octane provides IDC's up to 109% at redline (7500). HP/TQ : 360/298 to date. I have s l o w l y been increasing timing and gaining power but I don't want to push it too much more due to IDC's.

I tuned with some Citgo 110 leaded fuel this weekend... good results but I could only get the boost up to 25psi before running out of injector. HP/TQ : 460/376 This tune is kind of rough.. I have more work to do with the timing but ran out of clear wx (rained on me) so had to quit.

Here are a few photos I took this weekend...

Unfortunately, Deatschwerks was taking too long to release the side feed 1000 cc injectors... I decided to purchase Injector Dynamics ID1000's with the top feed conversion kit.

I am going to install the injectors & Aeromotive 13109 FPR this weekend...;-)
