WRX or an A4?
Hey guys! I don't usually posts in here unless i have a question that needs to be answered, so here it goes.
I finally raked up enough dough to invest in a vehicle and my down payment seems proficient enough to do that. But this one's in the air. A WRX OR AN A4? Which car should i get and why? I don't know about the insurance, but to my knowledge, i would assume that the rex would be cheaper, hence it is a japanese make.
Somebody help me on this?

Wrong, my bro's A4 is 800$ (though it is a 98' 1.8T FWD) every 6 months, many people here report they pay 1200$ and more. I would go with the WRX personally, better performance. Though, if you could get an S4, I'd go that way definitely, just cause the performance is similar (I believe, correct me if you want) and it's a more upscale car. An A4/S4 is a little bigger too I believe, so if you have family or stuff to haul around, it'd be better. I can't remember if they have the 225hp 6 in the A4 now, if they do then I might go that way over a WRX. It all depends on what you want really, good luck.

which of the two cars gets better gas mileage? 1.8 T or the rex? I believe some of you average like, 18-23 on the rex? Wow, that is on some 6 cylinder type numbers.
And a full tank of gas on a wrx and/or 1.8t a4, how much do you guys pay?
(I could check up on edmunds for the stats and figures, but i want to know from people with experience with one or the other.)

Well...
From my experiance of driving both cars I would have to say that if you are looking for more luxury then the A4 is the way to go...the WRX isnt much of one for luxury. But, on the other hand if you are looking for a great, fast daily driver/weekend warrior....then the WRX is the one for you.
You probably will want to test drive both be4 u decide....
Hope this helps!

if u can get a 2000-2002 S4 go for that, prolly in the same price range or higher than a WRX, but stock its a tad faster, and the aftermarket for them isnt as big, but MAN can you make those ****ers fast...not to mention youve got the german car luxury of it all.
i was going to get an S4 for awhile until i realized the insurance was going to kill me, then went with an 04 rex. s4 was my dream car, rex is starting to make me forget of my s4 dreams haha

I was in the same boat as you a couple years ago. I was even considering other awd cars like the A6, 330iX, Volvo XC, and Outback.
If you want a car with more status that is on the heavier and cushier side, definitely go with the A4. Like others said, it is not fast. It also has a smaller back seat than my WRX wagon.
If you want a funky, Japanese econo box that goes like stink, get the WRX.
If you're willing to look at used cars, the S4 can be had with relatively low miles for a relatively good price due to the fact that a new S4 (with a V8 instead of twin turbo V6) is coming. My buddy just bought a silver 2001 with 28K miles. It came fully loaded with sport suspension, tint, DVD navigation and 6 speed for $32K. I had the oppurtunity to drive it and it definitely feels heavier than the WRX, but it is very capable and much smoother than the Sube.
Have fun shopping!

damn u posted this everywhere didn't you? I saw it on bimmerforums as well the best place to go would be a honda board so u dont get a biased opinion..lol...bimmer owners are biased to audi's since they are german as well and ofcourse the people on here are going to be biased towards the subaru

If you're getting an a4 then it better be brand new. My friend barely got out alive with his a4 he bought used... a 99 mind you so not horribly old. That thing cost him more money than he will ever care to mention.
A subaru on the other hand it entirely reliable and should the rare fault happen with it... it's not going to be half as expensive to fix as the a4 for the same thing. Plus the wrx is faster and more fun to drive.

If you are going to go with an A4 my advice would be to get the 2.8 30vavle v-6. or if you get a 1.8t spend the 800$ on the APR chip. I won't tell you wich way to go on your decission thogh thats up to you. WRX are the **** and all but here are some things to consider....
An A4 with the pez supercharger= damn fast
A chipped S4 with upgraded turbos = smokes z06s for fun
