Wrx 250-400 Whp?
Hi,
Does anyone really have a 250-400whp WRX or any tips and advice on how to tune it???
If so, can you share your WRX setup?
My dream is to upgrade the WRX to 350 whp. I’m not really into drag / street racing but its nice to have at least 285 whp on tap ready to use at any situation. I know it is very expensive to achieve that kind of horsepower but does anyone really have such car like that? I currently have just the Blitz SUS intake and maybe later on I might get the HKS exhaust, BOV and header. I think it should be enough decent horsepower with that setup.
If I ever have extra money, I would get the following parts for my WRX:

I just got my car back from the shop, and here are my mods. They said that it will have between 360 to 400hp. I am going to the dyno at the end of this month.

I think that is most of it. Minus the interior stuff and the ICE. I am saving up for the Sparco Milano's, the Turbo XS utec ECU and the STI projection headlamps. I still have to get it tuned,but I can tell you one night I smoked a tuned 2001 Mustang SVT Cobra like I was racing a Geo Metro.
Gotta love the sound of the Boxter with no cats

Very sweat set-up you got there man...So far you're the only COOL guy with this kind of mod set-up! Most folks seem so
secretive when it come to their WRX mods but not you.... Hey, I can't wait to check out your dyno report. Lets me know when you have the result.....Good Job Man!!!

No problem. I can't understand why people are keepin' quit about their mods. I really don't care who really knows. If I can help out another person with their decision on what to do with their car I will. That is the point of this forum, right? As soon as I get the dyno results I will post them.

Crazy Stuff
March 08, I picked up my car from the shop today. Still not done, but it is a nice day in Pa. So I go on the Turnpike back to Harmar. I ended up finding a porsche 911 Carrera on the way. So we go to the turnpike and went ***** out. I was in 4th gear going 140mph still pulling the gear. I was suprised about that. My exit came up and I got off then about 30 sec. later the 911 came by. I felt like saying surprise surprise surprise like Gomer Pile. So I went to the gae station to fill up and ran in to some guys that I know. They have mustangs and were reving their engines. So I decided to rev mine. Next thing you know my scooby makes a horribe noise. I blew the exhaust temp. gauge from the manifold. I was so scared. I called my buddy from the shop and hurried to his house. It ended up that they outsourced the welding job to Mineke(sp). It was a ****ty weld job needless to say. My guys took it in and secured the EGT so I could drive it home. Everything works fine in my car, but it just sounds like a lawnmower. haha

Thanks Ken. I know practically all of you guys are against going fast, but I just wanted to test out my car to see what it could do.I was very excited and couldn't wait a month for the tracks to open up. I don't do it on a regular basis, just here and there. I usually go to the tracks. I highly doubt that you yourself havn't gone above 110mph on a public highway. Whatever you think of me is fine. I don't know you and will probably never meet you. But tell me the truth what is more of a danger, a person that went to racing school (like myself) or elderly people, people on their cellphones, people smoking while driving, etc. I'm not that stupid that I would constantly go out on the road and take the chance of killing other people as well as myself. Once again you don't really know me. I could do this all the time. You' re just giving a warning. That is a great thing to show your concern for others.

Hehe very intresting. Thanks for sharing all your tuneing info! I think its cool you try to help other rex owners in makeing big upgrading choices. You dont have any cats in your car, why does it sound like a lawnmower? I would expect it to sound really mean~! How loud is going catless. I want to, but im affraid of the noise pollution and getting busted by the cops. CAn you give me any info? THanks alot!

The reason that it sounds like a lawnmower id because i blew the weld on the EGT. Actually the place that installed the EGT didn't weld at all, they glued it. Yes I said glue. I got it fixed today. Sounds great now. The sound level when going catless depends on what kinda exhaust you have. I have the greddy Evo. It has just a low rumble.

thanks for the info, Is the greddy a quiet sounding exaust? Is it loud enough to attract police attention? I hear turbo cars are quiet because the turbo suppresses the sound. If you go catless does it start sounding like a N/a car? hehe Do you have a sound clip? thanks alot. man im sorry to hear about the EGT that was gluded. thats just plain scary!
