What will our cars be worth in 30 years?
Flipping though the tv channels noticed yet another vintage car auction on TV. A 69 Camaro that was restored sold for almost 65k. I grew up with may dad telling me he had one for a few years, bought it used for $800 back in the 70's. It got me wondering. What do ya'll think a WRX/STi will be worth in 30-40 years? Will Japanese cars, no matter what they can do, be left out of the collectors corner. Or will the Gran Turismo generation embrace them still as we get older?

I personally don't think any US released WRX STi will be considered a "collectors" car. But I can see some of the Japan special editions at least retaining their value. Spec-Cs, Spec-C RA will definitly retain it's value. And of course the S202, S203, and S204 will have a special place in Subie history. Also can't forget the sought after RA-R, the beast of the GD chasis era. Which will most certainly keep it's value if not raise in the years to come. Prodrive UK has made some classic Imprezas throughout the years as well that have their own place in the books, but from what I've seen, a lot of Subie's in the UK don't hold their value too well. Or maybe it's because people sell them for cheap because of the registration fees they have over there.
Example: I found a S202, the king of all bugeyes, that needed a little TLC, female owned, and it was going for around $8k. "$8000! are you f*cking serious?!?!" I said to myself when I saw it. It's hood was flat black instead of WRB like the rest of the car, and it didn't have it's original RAYS wheels. But it was still a rare S202 edition STi that anyone here in America would sell their right nut to have.
I think in years to come some low milage STis will have their value kind of like turbo Supras or well maintained FDs today. But as for WRXs, I'm sure it will turn into the 240 of our day, cheap, and plentiful. You have to think, there really isn't that many moderatly priced turbo vehicles to chose from, when you compare our selection to other countries. And more companys are jumping on the turbo wagon these days, with the Genesis, Mazdaspeed Miata, even the Ford Taurus SHO! So in 10 or 15 years these cars will be about the price a WRX, so what do you think the WRX will be worth?? If they're even still legal to drive and we don't live in a global hippie commune.
One good thing that Subaru has going for it is it's strong communitty. Strong following and loyal customers. But until the US starts releasing special edition STis( which they've done with the 07 limited, and the 2009 SE) which is a good start, but I think Subaru customers want more.
My 2 cents

Well in 3 years I'll be able to Import a 22B in Canada, and I was wondering if it would be worth looking into.
It's current market value is about 5k les then a new STi, which shows me at least for the 22B, it holds it value quite well.
