Since the debut of the 2.5 turbo engine in the USDM WRX STi, there have been no big issues other than a minor engine knock issue in the early '04 models, now fixed. Reliability has been good, even when modded. Maintenance is nothing out of the ordinary compared with Subaru or other Japanese engines. Just follow the factory-recommended maintenance schedule and you should be fine.

thx for your advice
my fd has a EVO VIII, since it's new, so far it's running excellent.
and mitsubishi offer a longer maintainance for powertrain and all stuff, that sounds great.
however, i see more STi out there on the street than EVO VIII...interesting
seems more people are tend to like STi more.
How do u guys rate the quality of the interior???
my fd's EVO VIII is sloppy...seems everything's so plastic and cheap.
can you guys give me more comments on the STi...thanks a million. =)

Evo's are cool. I like they exterior alot, but their dash is fugly. The Sti has a much better interior, and is a little cheaper than the EVO MR. Get the 2006 STI, it looks awesome!
