Understeer(frontend push) and oversteer(backend swing) require very different responses. Understeer which is never desired is usually caused by too fast of and entry speed into a corner. This can be difficult to correct. As you have already asked too much of the front tires. A quick check back to the center applied with brake then back on the throttle as you turn back into the corner should pull you through.

As for oversteer condition, this can be a very desireable condition. It Helps the car rotate though a corner. The idea is to control the extent of the oversteer, by properly gauging your entry speed, and trail braking into the corner and smoothily making your throttle input. In the event you endup in a situation with too much oversteer, your not screwed. Simply stay on the throttle, counter steer as you back end comes around. Think of it as a pendulum. Then as you begin to travel in the direction you want to go gently unwind your steering and apply throttle. You should snap right out of it. Try not to lift throttle in this condition because you'll be facing the opposite way you wanna go in the blink of an eye. Although under control lilft throttle oversteer can get your back end to come around when you need it to.

To sum it up. Stay in control of your car and you shouldn't have any problems. Anticipate what you want the car to do in a particular situation and make it happen. In the ervent that thigs don't go as planned, make sure plan "B" can fix things when plan "A" goes wrong. Most importantly drive within your skill level, don't take the risk if you don't have to.

^^^totally agree. Just think it through in your mind, your tires have a grip limit, once you exceed it by either turning, braking, accelerating or combination of each, you need to dial back some of those three to get back withing the grip limit to do what you want the car to do.

the thing i think to worry about is when counter steering to come back smooth..not to counter steer so long that you need to counter steer the other way haha. Suby's are natorious for understeer. Stiffen the rear with a rear sway bar and you will improve that.
In agreeance or am i full of ****, you be the judge.

Practice in a quiet safe area until you feel somewhat comfortable. It's one thing to know what to do when you loose control of your car, it's an entirely different thing to be able to execute that knowledge when required.

I think he is talking about pro-steer vs. counter-steer. In a counter-steer you just turn the wheel opposite of the corner you are taking and use throttle to control it. In a pro-steer you turn into the corner and apply the brakes. The idea is to induce a heavy understeer on the car so that it will just go straight without rotating. Once it has slowed down you center the steering and let go off the brakes. Potentially this might be off benefit at high speeds when there is not enough time to counter-steer.
