Back when I was a kid in the 80's, in BF, Indiana, (probably elsewhere, as well) it was all the rage to do that to cars. Most popular were Pintos for some reason. Probably to keep that gas tank off of the ground.

I think if the seller used one of these as an eBay title he may fetch a better price on the car:
"The Neon goes back to it's roots"
or
"SRT-4 Stage 2 upgrade kit"
or
"Dodge Neon wins WRC"
J/K

Putting a V8 in a Fiero is possible but you have to use those V8's that were put into the old Olds Toronados. Those V8's were originally mounted in transverse front differential but only sported 4.9 liters. The exact same engine blocks were then purchased by the Range Rover Company to power there vehicles . Now for the most interesting part after you lodge the frickin Engine in the compartment. The distance between the wheel wells and the engine is so tight you need a shoe horn or spreader to get your big fat hands and be a contortionist to remove the sprak plugs. Then there is the handling, hmmm, being that the practicality of owning such a thrill machine yearns some to build such hideous devices. Driving this beast would let you know just how rear end heavy your monster is once you remember the body panels were made out of Plastic. Car proportion ratio weight distribution percentages 30/70 or worse. But oh those times of getting drunk and stupid and driving in the backwoods of Kentucky coal fields would be thrilling, pour me some more of that shine brother!
