i would have to disagree, the srt-4 would defenatly win in that situation, all it needs is the right driver and the right upgrades

I agree with you here. After driving an STi it's hard to consider something that doesn't handle.

I love the power of the American Muscle. I mean, who wouldn't? 400+hp/400 ft-lb torque machines? GTO, Charger SRT-8, Hemi 300 SRT-8, Shelby GT500? Who wouldn't want something like that?

What the real frustrating aspect of these American Muscle cars is that while they gain insane amounts of hp, they're also gaining massive amounts of weight to accompany them. Any hp advantage that you're getting is quickly reduced to nothing by the weight gain. Look at the new Shelby GT500. The car has 500 hp and weighs 4000 lbs. Yeah, it may run mid/high 12s, but it's FIVE HUNDRED HORSEPOWER. That's gotta be the SLOWEST 500 hp car on the planet. Figure that if you take a 3300-3500 lb vehicle like an F-Body or basic Mustang GT and tap it out to 500 hp, you're going to be sailing your way to a low 12 second or possible very high 11 second timeslip.

As for fuel economy, the GTO will net you about 26 mpg on the highway. I'm not sure about the Chryslers. The Corvette Z06, 505 hp and all, will net you nearly the same. What's not to love about that?

Here's what I think of all this hostility:

Mclaren F1 > every other street car in the world.

McLaren F1 vs. every other car in the world? Top speed? Road course? If you're talking about just on a top speed run I'd take the Bugatti Veyron (obviously), or actually, come to think of it, I'd show some American pride and stroll out a Saleen S7 Twin Turbo.

Road course? No problem. As long as there aren't gigantic straights where my car could be overtaken, I would take a Mosler MT900 or an Ultima GTR. Possibly a Noble M12.

I didn't say race. I didn't say power. I didn't say top speed. I just said it is MCF1 > then every other road car.

When you specialize in one trait, you breed weakness in another.

So what's the point of your "McLaren Vs. Everything" suggestion if you don't want one? What exactly are you looking for?
