I wish they would come out with a limited 2007 or 2008 with the bugeye front. That would be sick.

Mitsubishi is also introducing a Lancer to compete with the WRX. It was going to be turbo and a step under the Evo.

I read that article too. I'll believe it when I see it. Although I wouldn't doubt it if Mitsu build it. [laughing] Look at how successful the new generation Eclipse has been [/laughing].

2006- Mazdaspeed 6 (2.3L I4 Turbo 274hp; MSRP $28,555)
2006- VW Passat (3.6L V6 280hp; MSRP $29,950)
Used- WRX STi (2.5L H4 Turbo 300hp; $???)
Used- Evolution VIII (2.0L I4 Turbo 276hp; $???)
Used- Audi A4 Quatro (sports car???)

If it were me, I would get the used STI. But I don't care about gas mileage and I rarely go to where it snows.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the legacy GT! When I considered shopping for one a year ago they were letting the fully loaded 5 speeds go for $26,500. That's only $3500 more than what I paid for my WRX and it's just as sporty as some of the cars on your list.

You beat me to it. I was just thinking the same thing. The LGT is a great car.

I raced one the other night and got SMOKED. He had some work done to it, though, of course. He had an exhaust, header, TMIC, and a Cobb Stage 2 tune, and a few other odds and ends. He had me by about 1.5 cars off of a roll of about 20 mph. It's not surprising, considering the LGT only weighs about 100 lbs more than the STi.

Well, I guess he said he's already purchased a 2006 WRX. Whatever the case, a very fun car to drive.
