Question Scion bB or whatever it's called.. Does it have any aerodynamic engineering?

I don't know why, but every time I see a scion on the freeway ..

I think of the wind resistance of a cardboard box on wheels.

I'm not trying to rag on it's styling, but does anyone know how this car does in aerodynamic drag tests in comparison to WRX's, etc?

IIRC the WRX is not an aerodynamic marvel itself, but the scion just looks to be pushing it. Would a swift wind unsteady the car severely? Any adverse effects of high coefficient of drag?

i'm thinking the power output by the scion xb limits any necessity for aerodynamics. it probably can't go fast enough for it to matter...

I like the way it looks (especially lowered, tinted, bling wheels etc). don't know what to say about the swift wind question, but probably it wouldn't unsteady it any more than any other light car

I'm with you... every time I see it I think it has the aerodynamics of a cinder block

I drove an xB press loaner and it was suprisingly fun...for a box on wheels. It's relatively light, so it's not as lethargic as you may think. Compared to the other box-mobile, the Honda Element, it has a lot more spunk and handles much better.

Its not a race car and it gets great mpg so why does it matter?

I didn't say either, I was curious whether it mattered at all that it had a lot of drag; and if it did actually have as much drag as it looks to have.

I guess no one knows... I was just curious if anything.

heres my friends scion xb. its got axis ne-o 19x8, tien springs hotchkis fr/rr sb's, custom fiberglass dash and some other showy stuff and a 70 shot nos. IMO..its still a slow car with the nitrous, but damn..this box handles pretty damn good for what it is.

oh yeah...at least hes trying to make his car fast...the cars waiting for a custom 3sgte(mr2 turbo motor) swap right now. not sure when its going to be done, but hes trying to be the first in the US.

yeah..hes pushing his luck with this one..

his other car was a civic hatchback with a d16 squeezing an 80 shot. the work was done by dnr performance tho, and theyve proven that motor can handle that much power. his hatchback ran mid/high 13's.

i'd buy it to use as a lounger vehicle between races. or as a daily driver/cargo van for my subie parts who say your cargo van has to be blah.
if it was my lounger i'd put a full on self-sustaining ICE along with a bunkbed.

Hmm... it looks like a toaster... and toasters are notorious for catching on fire when you least expect it...

...I think I'd skip the NOS :-)

I once had a ~40ish mile freeway jaunt with a coworker who had an xB. It's actually not that bad, the acceleration from 60-80 isn't as bad as the aerodynamics would suggest. It can almost keep up with my RS.

i believe that i read that the scion actually had pretty god aerodynamics, because the sides of the car are so flat..there isnt much drag. forgot where i read this..might have been the scion boards.
