Saab 9-2X....0-60 in 6.5 secs only?

Ok, I'm sure many of you have heard of the upcoming Saab 9-2X. Basically an Impreza rebadged as a Saab. The predicted 0-60 times on this car is 6.5 secs, that's about 1 sec off the WRX. Granted that 0-60 isn't as important as the driveability of the WRX.

Anyway, I got the info here. http://home.swipnet.se/danny/info.htm

BTW, if this isn't a place to post this, let me know. I saw Saab 9-2X postings in other Subaru forums so I thought it's ok.

Tried to read the specs but they are in swedish. But I found this funny: Acceleration: 0-100 km/tim 6,5 sek (ca). Toppfart: 230 km/tim (ca).

The 9-2X is going to be the wagon version of the WRX. If I am not mistaken, the WRX wagon goes from 0-60 mph in about 6.5 sec also, so there isn't much of a difference between the two cars.

Question

Maybe they were talking about a vehicle equipped with an automatic tranny?

You think 80 pounds makes that big of a difference?

80 pounds i think makes a noticable difference...in my days of stripping out my integra i noticed a difference in dropping weight even less than 80...

The wagon is mechanically identical to the sedan, but is heavier due to the extra structural beams needed to reinforce the roof. This is needed because the wagon does not have a rear deck as the sedan does in order to reinforce the rear of the car's frame, not to mention the extra load it is going to see with a roof rack. Anyway, the car is plenty fast either in a sedan or wagon form.

Was thinking the same thing myself. I went to the SF Autoshow and asked the SAAB guy where the 9-2 was. It's debuting in the LA autoshow next month. I wanted a pic in person. Oh well.

I doubt it has anything to do with body style or transmission. Subaru also gave a conservative 0-60 time when the WRX was introduced. I think it was 6.5 also, but not sure. They didn't start advertising the faster times until the media provided those times. I think it makes it seem more legitimate when Motor Trend is the one timing the car and not the manufacturer.
