Racing for money (NOT street racing)
I would like to know where some big racing tournaments are, and how much money people can make.
I mean, if i pimp out a mercedez and get it to go to 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, where cna i race for MONEY.
Are there actiually car tournaments where i can win big cash? and how are they made, what are they like, what type of racing?
ALso, what would be a cheap car to pimp out to win these races? Mustang? Subaru? Thanks!

You could always find out where some illegal street racing goes down. I have seen people walk away with a couple grand after one night. The only thing is....you have to have a crap load of money invested in to whichever car you choose to make it quick enough to beat the people that actually race for decent money. But then again.......there is always someone out there with more money spent and just alittle faster hahahahahaha

nono , ok, street racing , eh, maby every once in a while, i mean standard tournaments.
Are you telling me all the people that pimp out subaroos (sp!) and supras, are just doing it for fun? Or is there some tournaments they can go into to make some money.
Like, if i have a pimped out C32 AMG Mercedes, can i go into any racing tournaments and win cash? (like with brackets for racing and all) ?
Or is all this modding just for the satisfaction that their car has power?
I dont want to have to rely on a few street-races here and there i want to be able to race like once a month for cash!

Car Info: gc w/ neons and a wrx that needs neons
go to your local track and see what they got in terms of competitions for your "pimped" out car.
I know there are races everyonce in a while, but the prize money is very small, until you start getting known.
Good luck, and let us know how u stack up when you find a place to race.

well this is the thing, i have an OK car, its a 1999 mercedes benz Supercharged C230.
Its by no means pimped out, (ive been saying pimped because i dont know how you would say : souped up)
But, how do you become well known, like i see you guys saying "ooo i beat everyone in a race today, my subie vs all v8's and i smoked em" well what else would you have to do , how can you get into cash, is that what rally racing is for? cash?
I just dont know if i should sell my benz for some speedy-car so i can try to win money in races!

Ok....so maybe illegal street racing isnt your thing nor is it really mine lol. Alot of dragstrips across the country have grudge racing and bracket racing. There isnt much money involved in this (well no money in grudge racing unless you bet the other person). The only way I can think of to get money is to try and get sponsored by someone. If auto-cross is your thing.......go to a couple races and see how you do. If drag racing is your thing then go to some bracket races and try your luck. The toughest thing about getting the money is to get well known. It is the same type of situation when you want to get sponsored for car shows. You have to go to a few big car shows and place really well. Pretty much the bottom line is to get really well known or become good friends with people that work for performance shops. How is you go about making the money and "pimping" your ride is up to you.

Auto-X is 'Parking Lot' racing.. occasionally actual tracks open up for public nights too.
Yes, you can auto-x in any car theoretically. I wouldn't do any serious street racing with the car as-is though, you'll get burned by anyone who has a half decent car. Learn as much as you can about your car, and about cars in general, before you put down any cash. If you don't know what your looking for in your compitition, and have no idea what a certain car is capable of, you'll lose more money than you'll win.

I second everything xenowolf is saying. You will lose alot of money if you dont know whats going on, not to mention you will get beat alot if you cant tell what someone else has done to their car etc etc. Knowledge is the best thing to have in any form of racing whether it be......drag racing, auto-x, rally racing, etc etc

OK, What kind of racing do you want to do drag racing, roadcourse? Have you ever heard of The NHRA or IHRA, SCCA? Racing is expensive! You don't go racing for the money. You will spend a lot more than you will win. I have been involved in one form of racing or another for 15 years, I have won races roadracing motorcycles, showroom stock racecars, Auto-X. I have never made money racing. I race because there is nothing else. It is the checkered flag or nothing. I don't care if its a scooter or a GSXR I will give it what I got to be there first. Do a little research online PM me if you want I will be happy to point you in a direction. Racing is the only true sport people give their lives for it. It is not for money.
