Race Stories?

I would like to see how your Subies compare to other cars in real situations. Any stories?

I had a civic with a coffee can muffler dust me. Of course I was shifting at 3,500 rpm...LOL

In the real world I have plenty of power to jockey in traffic and have a blast on mountain roads.

I was sitting at a light and a guy pulls up next to me in a brand new (paper plates still) Mercedies-Benz SL 500 V12. He starts a weak brake stand (hits the brake and the gas at the same time and starts smokin his tires) I rev up to my spooling point (3,000 RPM's) Light turns green and i pop the clutch. He kept up to me until i hit third gear. Shifted into 3rd and I blew him away. He was goin about 85 by the time i got to 4th. He had no chance. Subby rules all !

Back in the UK on some twisty roads I had no problems keeping up with a TVR Cerbera - and those have a 4.5 litre V8 and only weigh 1100 kg. The Scoob's handling and traction mean it's actually faster in many real situations (especially in poor weather) than some much more powerful cars. On the other hand I have been comprehensively blown away by a Porche 911 turbo at a track day at Knockhill race track...

I'd have to be smoking quite a few rips of whatever you're smoking to believe that story.

I just went to mbusa.com to verify, and there is no V-12 SL for 2003. There is a V-12 CL, the CL600, and it makes 493 HP!

I just checked caranddriver.com, they say 590 lb-ft of torque, and 0-62 in 4.8 sec. for the 600.

They have produced a SL600 with a normally aspirated V12 in the past. I still have to believe that it would eat a stock WRX for lunch and still be hungry.
