The fact that a major U.S. manufacturer is paying respect to its history and actually listening to the public is a great thing. As long as this becomes a trend and not a one time thing imagine the possibilities. We could get a new RR or a 'cuda a falcon, a v8 in the impala again who knows.

Here's the thing with me and the Pontiac GTO. Having it called the "Pontiac GTO" is what I think is sssooo sssooo wrong for Pontiac to do from a car enthusiast point of view. From a marketing point of view, it's pure genius but immoral to the car enthusiast. Lemme explain...
I think we all know this new retro version is based off the Holden car of Australia. Pontiac just slapped on its own tags/badges onto the car and proclaim it as the new redesigned/rebirth version of the classic muscle car GTO. I'm sorry to say, but it has barely-to none similarities or aspects of the classic models. Not enough to name it the Pontiac GTO. Hell, where are the famous headlamps of the GTO? The muscular body shape/stance? It's still a Holden practically and they should've gave it a different name or keep it called the "Monaro." Anyways, I have a bone to pick on with Pontiac to name it the new "GTO," but I know it's all marketing terms to make sales and to sell. Pontiac needs a new sports car that would attract massive amounts of money to their lost Firebird that were dropping in sales along with the Chevy Camaro.
As for engine and stuff, it's practically a Firebird replacement. LS1 V8 engine, etc. with 350 HP. It's a heavy car but that's how American cars are. They still go hella fast and got plenty of torque. Muscle car fans follow "no replacement for displacement" so there you have it.
I personally like the Pontiac GTO except it being labelled the "Pontiac GTO" I mean Holden! I mean Pontiac! =P I always did love the Holden from Australia and did wish it would come up here in the states, now it's here but just with a different name. I think it's a kewl car nonetheless.

GTO 64-66 side-by-side 4lamp head lights, 67-69 one-on-top head lights(my favorite) 68-71/72 side-by side, 73/sellout. The car still pckes more power than the origional and better times than the origional. It gets my attention. 350 stock hp out of a LS1 isnt much. Wait for aftermarket, the GTO will be 400+ and then everyone will be loving the car, or untill the LS6/LS2 Judge version comes out.

So after all that we've said about this car. How come is it that I still haven't found one on the road at all? I'm starting to think Pontiac isn't selling these GTOs very well?
Anyways, anyone have a suspicion this car ain't going to last very long here in the states?

In MI there are a ton. Dealers have 3-5 on their lots. See quite a few toolin around. Have seen 2 at the track and ran one. But it is MI, and the Chevy SS was all over the place last summer. Have also seen the Dodge magnum and Chrysler 300 for about 6 months now.

Speedevalation- I agree with you. They should not have called it a GTO. GM, for some reason likes to ruin the names of their great classic cars, Impalla,lemans,cutlass,etc.... . It is a good looking car but very non descripit. I passed one the other day and thought it was a grand prix,grand am. Not until he pulled up behind to me at the light did i notice the little tiny GTO badge in the grill. It is just not flashy at all. Look at the 69,70 judge. That orange was crazy. I am really not impressed with GM exept for cadillac, and vette.

So... when can we expect the new Pontiac GTO "Judge" package to come out in the next few years? Anything more in depth? I can't wait! I've seen some prediction photos but I bet none does it justice to the real deal in the future.
Anyone have any information on the "Judge" rebirth for the future? I know it's still very infant stages... However, possible Specs? Possible Stats? I really like to know... (still searching throughout the web, but hard to filter from the classic GTO Judge sites.)
I might want to purchase this car someday and have the best of both worlds with a domestic muscle car and a rally proven WRX import. Need the funding too. However, this one is still baking in the oven since I don't know if I rather pick a Lotus Elise or the Pontiac GTO Judge (guessing both around $35-$40ish K. It's like comparing apples to oranges! Both really different cars! For example, one is light and nimble and small MR engine like an F1 cart. The other is a heavy, muscular, brute beast waiting to fire on all 8 pistons!
I really like this car though cause I know it's a Holden Monaro deep down inside which is a well established car. Also, the HSV GTS makes me change my pants! ME WANT! ME WANT!

I'm waiting for the return of the 7 litre V-8s of yesteryear: the big Olds 442, the GTO's, the 429 Fords, the 426 Hemis! THOSE were awesome IMOP, wore out rear tires with only slight urging. No good in wet or snow, but who cared?
