Petition to repeal the '25 year rule' for vehicle importation
I don't know if this has made it's way to i-club yet but someone posted it on Saab92x.com today and I thought it was my gearhead duty to share it further.
Petition to Kill the “25 Year Rule” For Vehicle Importation Pops Up on White House Website - VWVortex

Let me state the obvious- The 25 Year Vehicle Importation rule is excessive and unnecessary.
Now that we’re all in agreement, our friends at Petrolicious have decided to do something about it. By creating a petition on WhiteHouse.gov, Petrolicious hopes to change the importation law to allow vehicles that are just 15 years old to be imported into America, much like what is allowed in Canada. In order to have their petition officially acknowledged, it needs to receive 100,000 signatures within the next 30 days. Currently they’ve still got quite a ways to go with just under 2,500 signatures, but with a bit of help from enthusiasts like you, we may be able to help get them to that magical 100,000 mark.
Even with the required number of signatures, this would still need to make its way through the legislative process so there are no guarantees. But the thought of importing whatever you want, (so long as it was made before 1999) should be worth a few minutes of your time.
