My Gf's 01 Daewoo Lanos keeps overheating
She has a total pineapple express Daewoo Lanos. Despite the bad-assness of this little car, when she drives it over 17 it will sometimes overhead. The AC is not on, and sometimes it's cool outside. The car doesn't burn that much oil and she says she goes to Jiffy lube every 3,500. She didn't start to drive the car over 17 until recently. It's normally only driven inside her little bubble, which is like a 10 mile radius
Is this normal for a little car that's 11 years old with 170,000 miles on it or is something wrong with it's cooling system? I'd appreciate your thoughts, comments and suggestions.

I have to edit the oil change part. She say she only changes her oil and filter 2 times a year. Also the engine has only 77,000 miles. Damn I blew that haha.
Assumption= the brother of all **** ups, or was it the mother of all **** ups
The car is only driven like 5-10 miles a day. There is no puddle under the car. I checked when she came, and she says there is no puddle either. Last time this happened she said she almost was able to fit the whole jug of coolant into the radiator. There are no smells coming from anywhere. Sorry about the faulty info from before.

That little car is working pretty hard to get over 17.
But I would say that it could probably use a coolant flush and the waterpump inspected. Could be the waterpump is getting tired and/or the thermostat. Could be a lot of things.
My best off the cuff guess would be tired coolant and a tired water pump.

I'd say just do the full coolant system all in one and call it a day. Either somethings clogged in the radiatior or could be a bad t-stat, rad cap.
So you might as well just flush everything out, run some water and water wetter, just to make sure you get everything out and then drain and put new fresh fluid in, put in a new t-stat, and either have the cap tested, or just buy a new one. their like 6 bucks. t-stat a little bit more. distilled water is cheap and water wetter is cheap. only thing you need is time.
