one nice stat(if you are a geek) the sti has a 10.9lbs/ h.p.
ratio versus the lotus which is 10.1lbs/ h.p. ratio (i might be off a decimal point)
thats pretty impressive. i think one of the best to come will be that new shelby cobra which is something like 6lbs/hp

I think you all are missing the point of the Elise. Its a drivers car that is supposedly THE best handling car in the world.
Instead of getting stuck up on the idea of 1/4 mile and 0-60 times (like most unknowing owners will probably do), this car is really a rich mans track car that will be sold to the masses. Am I complaining, hell no

Is there an anti-SUV avoidance system for these cars....geez.

Everyone knows that it will whoop sh*t in the twisties. Its badge says so "Lotus". But also stating the point that it has enough power to weight ratio to hold its own in the straight aways too. Kinda like the STi, but at a totally different level (apples & Kiwis)

I wouldn't be too worried about wind, the car has excellent downforce built into the aerodynamics.
As of last week, british motors in san francisco does not have any on display and has no information about the car... just like a car dealer, eh?

About 15 years ago a Gremlin was driving on the Mackinack bridge (It connects the Upper and Lower Penninsula in MI). A gust of wind, had enough force that blew the car off of the bridge, killing the driver. I could see that happening with this Lotus. On a lighter note, it won a catagory on Spike TV's 52 greatest cars.

update: British Motors of San Francisco now has a silver, USA-spec Elise in their showroom to check out, but they're really **** and you generally need an appointment to get into their "special" showroom. As well, they have had no literature on the car for the past five months since I saw it at the dealership last time....not exactly the best way to sell a car. The Elise is silver and looks a lot like the Euro model they had a few months ago, same as the orange Elise in my earlier post.
