I-Speed in the CA Bay Area does ej20t motorswaps, and I think they cost about $7,000-$8,000 (I don't work for them, so don't take that price as a real quote. I'm working from memory here).
If you want to do it yourself, almost everything physically bolts up (that is, if you have an engine lift and all the other correct tools), but you will be spending hours upon hours of wiring.
You can download the wiring manual from Subaru, but it will cost you. I think their rates are $20 for 72 hours of unlimited techmanual downloading. http://techinfo.subaru.com

Car Info: '98 STi Ver. III GF8
It also depends on the level of swap you're trying to do. Full drivetrain or just motor.
By swapping just a motor and keeping your RS tranny you'll get lower gears and it'll be more like a Type RA drivetrain.
I've got lower gears in my STi Ver. III GF8 swap and while it's nice to have that lower gearing in 1-4 I wish 5th was a bit taller to lower the revs on the expressway. (is that explanation right??? I'm still sleepy and messed from being sick the last few days...
so I could be talking outta my **** right now...)
$7/8k from I-speed sounds a bit low but I haven't followed their prices lately. The price of USDM WRX motors has gone down alot in the last few years so that might be the case.
Good luck.
