I think I found my next new car

Quick, if Subaru banned you for life from owning one, what would you go after? Personally, I've always had a soft spot for light weight and rear wheel drive (I do live in sunny California after all). And now I can have this. The 2004 MazdaSpeed Miata. Ragtop, 2 seats, 6 speed, RWD, and not heavy at all. Can't beat that with a stick, now can you? And here's the best part- it has an IHI turbo! Can you say VF34 swap my friends? 250 whp is only injectors, exhaust, and engine management away- and I know for a fact all of those things are easily attainable. I guess now I know why I decided to pay off the RS early, eh? Time to go hat-in-hand back to the bank once more...

wat about the lotus elise?
it weights much lighter than the Mazdaspeed miata, and looks much better. plus it's way faster.

I don't think it will be faster than a mazdaspeed miata. I am worried about seeing those suckers already. My neighbor has been modding older miatas as his profesion and I just know I will be hearing him grumbling down the street in a car faster than mine...oh well. I'll have to invite him on a trip to mammoth when it snows there.

No, I fully believe the Elise will be fastar. It has more hp and weighs 600 pounds less. And that's before the Vishnu turbo kit goes on it. That's already in development and will be available shortly after the Lotus' release. It's just too expensive for me.

The article mentioned the ibuki, which looks pretty good too (depending on what powertrain they put into it).

i read in a magizine somewhere about the miata coupe. They said that it's only going to produce it in Japan.

The coupe looks good, but what's the point? I want a convertible. That's what sells the Miata. Besides, I think it's small enough that it should have been done more as a hatchback.
