gti vr6 vs. wrx

How does vr6 stack up against wrx? 99 and up

stock vs stock, the vr6 gets smoked right off the line, but probably faster on the hwy.

I wouldn't get the VW unless you get a smokin' deal on it and don't really care too much about performance.

Thumbs up Upgraded

I traded in a '97 GTI VR6 for my 2003 WRX Wagon, and I consider it an upgrade. The VR6 did have killer stock brakes.

The VR6 is a very nice sounding engine and does not suffer from turbo lag like a WRX. It is a front driver with a lot of weight over the front tires, so understeer will be a fact of life at the limit. Of course, understeer is a fact of life in a WRX as well, but it is more easily dialed out.

20 hp less, but those things are killer chipped.
