Dan Neil @ LA Times = best car writer
Anyone reading this should go to http://www.latimes.com and sign up for a free account, then immediately go to the Highway 1 section (you can find it in the left-hand navigation list) and read any and all articles by Dan Neil. He's the most amazing car reviewer/writer I've read in a long time, and I've got discriminating taste.
In his current review of the AWD Lambro Gallardo, he manages to reference Shakespeare, prison lingo, The Exorcist, Donald Trump's hair and more, while bashing Civic and SUV drivers and begging for a dispensation from the Pope in order to allow him to drive faster than all those lesser, inferior cars.
He's an amazing writer. Don't read his column while eating your breakfast cereal -- there his a high probability you will laugh and end up shooting milk out of your nose and getting your Cheerios lodged in a sinus cavity.

maybe I'll check that out but I'm more of a highly technical review rather than review just for entertainment.
reminds me of a review of spinal tap:
"this raises the question, on what day did god create spinal tap and why could he not have rested on that day too"

All the technical details you would ever want are in his articles, from details on the transmission linkage and wishbone suspension to comments about weight balance, handling characteristics and build quality. He just wraps the facts in a more attractive package than most.

i havent read any of neil's articles yet but currently the uk magazine "evo" is on the top of my list. their writers are much better at describing how the car feels and what it is doing than any other publication ive read. ill have to check out neil though.
