This is true.. and to think my damn evo ONLY has 2 airbags... vs my damn wrx(4) vs my damn jetta(8) ohh well .. comes back to the same question of comfortability & safety features/factors...

removing the sti seats w/ side bags throws an airbag light...plug in a $2 resistor from radio shack and the light is gone

Get a Lexus IS300. A little cheaper than a STI and you get more bang for the buck. Except 300hp and AWD. Test drive it. Realiability ranks #1 on JD Power & Associates.

I don't normally say things like this, but...

Heh! Now I feel bad for saying that. You have a chance to redeem yourself, however:

...is it black? If so, you are off the hook.

Otherwise, you have to hang some Mardi Gras beads over the rearview mirror and put a sorority-themed sticker in the rear window...

Lexus (Toyota) held a lot back in that motor and I've never quite figured out why. Yes, it may have a more luxurious ride and amenities compared to the STi and an Evo, but it would take much more $$$ to get it up to par with either of those...
I kinda pointed that out on my original post that the IS300 lacks 300hp and AWD which = no performance.

I'm just addressing the reliability issues that was on original thread. The last time I check, Lexus (Toyota's U.S. luxury division) brand have rank #1 on consumer reports for overall reliability, BMW placed 5th, Subaru didn't even broke the top 10. And the other thing that's disconcernting is that Hyundai (Korean manufacturer) placed 2nd (i think) for 2004 for overall reliability rated by consumers.

Add to the fact that some STI owners on this thread won't recommend the STI as a daily driver.

The STI is an awsome car since it's a detuned WRC inspired vehicle, and that's why it will take more $$$ to get an IS300 to par with the STI and EVO. However, the real reason Lexus brought the IS300 over is not to beat the STI or the EVO, but to overthrow BMW 3 series as an affordable luxury vehicle under 30k.

And then again, I might be wrong.
