I'm New to California, but from my understanding the second the exhuast, intake, turbo, intercooler, suspension, ECU etc is modified the car is then illegal whether you pass smog or not. It seems pretty mad to me that you can't legally mod a car.

If that is the case, your only bet is to buy a faster car if you wanna stay legal.

Agree. an Evo 8 pulled along site me a couple of days ago on the hwy. The guy was friendly and all that, so we decide to get on it. With tbe, cobb stage 2. I was able to keep up with him pretty good. Maybe he is a bad drive, but I am not that good of a driver myself. He seem to have tbe too since he smelt pretty nasty.

In CA, you can mod your car. You can have a new intake exhaust even with no muffler, you just have to 1) Not be too loud 2) Pass smog (keep ur stock exhaust) and 3) Not get pulled over for racing, THAT is when they check your mods. They'll sometimes make you pop your hood and if they see anything moded, you get a ticket.

Jack

P.s: Why are u trying to match an Evo VIII? You bought a Subaru (the competition) why ask about matching it? Match the better model.

so what your telling me is that the only mod I can do is the intake, which doesn't matter much on a sub 300bhp wrx anyways.

thanx
