Red face Check out what SAAB owners think of the 9-2X!

They're quite angry... they seem to think they're BMW, that the name SAAB commands respect and adoration  they're quite angry our 'superpoo' is being 'forced' upon SAAB.

Linky to saabcentral thread.

Some of them think it's a good idea, but mostly those are the ones that already own a subaru. I figured SAAB came with some elitist attitude, but not this much... Most think it's ridiculous to price up a subaru and slap a SAAB badge on it... on this we agree.

Here's a few gems...

I think that with the 9-2, fartpipes on Saabs will change from the exception to the norm
I don't care how WRX is able to beat a SAAB on 0-60 mph run, quarter mile run, track time...blah...blah. All I care is the qualities that defined a SAAB brand. It feels like a tin can with lots of hp, turbo lag and fast cornering. In a SAAB, you feel safe and secure while providing a fun and cool driving environment.

Their feelings about that car and Subaru in general should be treated no different than similar, negative posts made in Honda or Toyota forums about Subaru. Who cares?

On the other hand, they're probably no different than we are; enthusiastic about their cars. Probably less so because what's to be excited about? My personal opinion is that it is a drab little car (that is, those you see on the street most of the time).

Puts full-body flame suit on:

I agree with them on a lot of issues. Saabs ARE very unique cars and there are many unique traits that make them Saabs, and these are traits that the Saab owners are very proud of, just like we love our All-Wheel drive. An all-wheel drive saab does not go with these trraits. Saabs are and for a LONG time have been turbo, front wheel drive cars. All wheel drive is totally against this, and is a change for the worse IMO, and changing them into a main-line automobile manufactuer, which is not what Saab is. By turning them away from the small, unique manufactuar they were, they are turning their backs on thier roots and what they really are. Have you ever diven the new 9-3??? It feels like a GM car, with a better interior. Compared to the old 9-3 there is no comparison. The Viggen? DAMN! That is about the sickest car ever made from sweeden.

Basically they are afraid that even though Subarus are good, it loses the basic uniqueness of the Saab brand.
Cheers
-Jeff

Good! My thoughts are if they don't like it, then don't buy it! Maybe then it will end after 2-3 years of production.

I had a SAAB 900 Turbo in college...Great quirky car.... No offense to any owners but their quality concerning body integrety and interior trim pieces leave a lot of room for improvement....

The quirks were kind of cool, ignitition on the floor......

The snobbery is just from those who drive what I refer to the Swedish BMW's.... They are of the same low mental capacity as most BMW drivers (excluding real enthusiasts, ie soccer moms, wall st. losers, et al). This is a general statement, but from my experience, these are the drivers who don't signal, talk on the phone, speed up and slow down for no apparent reason, etc.

Plus service is also like BMW...$$$$$$$

what i dont understand is why a interior makes that much of a difference? i also dont understand why saab's is better because my friends 87 900 seems to have the same kind of interior my impreza has?

but to anyone that is thinking of buying a wrx consider the 9-2 the next trim package up

I can't wait to pull up next to a Saab 9-2 in my 04 Outback Sport and have them look in shock as they see almost the same car as theirs in Outback style two tone paint! That'll show em
