Well if you want to know how the components work then i will sugguest howstuffworks.com awesome site.

As for upgrades? look and search around here, all cars are deferent and you can get a feel for whats right for you by looking and imtating others for the same or similiar results.

Driving techniques: Books? Haw practice practice practice is the key! If you wish to become "expert" then the fastest way is a racing driving school, yeah they exist and they are fun. Put some hands on technique with an instructor and i can say with ease you will surpass many in this field
