Accelerating hesitation WRX 02
I did search but maybe dont know the right keywords to use. I have a question to 02 WRX owners:
When I accelerate (warm or cold engine) I notice the power is not constant. There seem to be very brief periods where the power drops off or cuts out and then it picks up again. (.5-1 second or so). I guess you could call it short hesitations.
I just got this car and have never had a turbo powered car, is this normal for the accelation not to be constant? I notice this mostly when I drive fast. Slow driving isnt as noticable.
Thanks for your replies or pointing me in the right direction.

I am nor sure about when you say that it picks up and drops off, but power on the WRX gets produced in the higher RPM range. In first and second gears the power comes at around 2300 RPM and as you go higher in gears so do the RPMs.
Hope this helps

Correct me if I'm wrong fellas.....but I think that's because the Turbo hasn't finished spooling yet.... After 2800 to 3000 or so, then you feel the kick. That's when you know the turbo is doing it's job.

What Junnel said - under normal driving conditions the turbo starts to spool up at 2800rpm but if you're accelerating, you wont feel the kick till you hit about 3000rpm 'cos it takes a second or two to get up to speed.
Bonkers.

Good luck getting it sorted out.
