why would u want to drop it anyways? you dont get good launchs that way. it u jsut drop it it will jump and then like bog a bit and then start to take off, if u slip it then it does a good launch and u will get better times that way. so really there is no reason to just drop it unles u want to mess up ur tranny.

LOL....why ask?

i'll say it here so that we don't get any future whining in case the tranny borks...

IF YOU PLAY, PREPARE TO PAY!

slip/drop it all you want....if the 03+ clutch assembly gives you some sort of comfort, then by all means, do it. but don't say you haven't been forewarned of the potential damage.

My Drag racing friend drops his 03 WRX at 5500 rpm all the time, even get 1.800 60ft at the quarter, I've sat in his car before when he's done these crazy clutch dumps, yeah you go flying thru from a dead stop. But for what?

But for me, I say no thanks, my Drag racing days are over, theres no fun in replacing parts broken parts especially one's you should know better. Road Racing is much better on the Tranny 8D and you dont need a whole lot of power to prove your faster too.

WRX = World Rally (X)Car...WRC was taken.....

If you want to drag then drag have fun breaking your wonderful rally car...I would much rather have fun biting into corners and sliding the tail around some great curved road.... Dragging is for winnies.... but have fun.....

I just like to know I probly can't take you off the line... but I will spank you on the road...and we could make it fun and throw a little water or snow in...lol

If I wanted a drag car I would have baught a Vette or such....

i rev between 4k-4500 then when im ready to go i floor it and when 5k-5500 comes around i let off the clutch. Not dropping it but just letting up on the clutch. I get a little wheel spin from the front tires then im off. My friend whos been to the track pulls 1.8 60's and sometimes 1.7. When we go on the street i usually jump almost a car on him off the launch so hopefully ill hit 1.7's when im at the track.

keep your left foot on the slow side and your clutch will hate you, but your tranny will love you.

I don't know many cars where it's good/beneficial to drop the clutch. 5000-5500 is a great area to feather the clutch... you'll hopefully get a tire chirp and go.

dumping the clutch = revving up to 4000-6000rpms and just letting the clutch go as quick as possible.

Slipping the clutch = revving up to 4000-6000rpms and slowing letting off the clutch until you feel it grab and then let off the clutch.
