GM concentrated on their truck line because it is their #1 seller, and along the way they forgot that they also built cars.

Within the next few years you will see some awesome products from GM. It's already started. Look at the Solstice and Sky, especially the GXP and Redline models. In 2009 the Camaro is returning along with a totally redesigned and retooled GTO, this time, done right. Don't forget that the next Pontiac Grand Prix is going to house 362 hp and be based off of the next Holden Commodore. GM will prove once again that they are a dominating force, just like they did in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I wouldn't be so hasty to count GM out if I were you.

Then you sit here and talk about how you "know that story" about the STi. So, what's the story that we're all supposed to know? I'd hate to **** on your parade but the STi/STI is faster than the Evo in a straight line, and the IX is just about on par with the STi/STI. Handling's a different story, and the Evo doesn't handle all that much better than an STi/STI, I'll have you know. In fact, the 2006 STI was rated right on par with the Evo in terms of handling. So....what's that story?

And once again, the STi/STI NEVER made more than advertised hp. You're thinking of the Camaro and Firebird that were rated at 305 hp and making closer to 350 hp.

And then you mention that the Evo X is going to make 330 hp at the crank. Please, enlighten us all how a car with an AWD drivetrain is going to make 300 whp when it's making 330 hp at the crank. An AWD car with 330 hp will be lucky to make 265 whp with 330 hp at the crank.

Next subject.

Oh, and "retarted" is spelled "retarded." If you're gonna call someone "retarted," at least spell it right. www.dictionary.com can help you.

But just to really add insult, you're right. American cars don't handle for sh*t. Who in their right mind would want a Mosler MT900, Ford GT, Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper, or Saleen S7? After all, they're all "poor resell American trash."

sorry, drivetrain loss is a lot more than 5% (285/300) and it is not a set number...if it were a set number, a 15hp car would have 0whp

there are other threads about drivetrain loss

It is usually around 30-40 depending on the set-up, tranny, gears, bushings, etc...

ok well when i had headers, ehxaust no (d.p or m.p), pullies, and intake. I put down 300whp
so if i can gain 50 to 80 wheel horse that is pretty damn good for minor mods.
I do not think that is right

/\ sounds like a very forgiving dyno.
It all depends on what brand dyno and how they are dialed in.

it all depends on the dyno, you can get a dyno to read a civic putting out 500whp stock...not accurate though (=

which dyno did you do this at?

Its all dependent on the test and conditions.
Cobb tuning tested a stock STi at the following
HP - 238.0 @ 5300RPM
ft/lb - 248.2 @ 4500RPM

EQ Tuning tested a stock STI at the following:
HP - 217.4 @ 6420RPM
ft/lb - 219.7 @ 4290RPM

same car, big difference due to conditions and what dyno is used and elevation, and tempurature and so on.

Smells like a dynojet. A mustang dyno is much more humbling.
