****ty that 99% of complaints about iPhone are not even the phone's fault. It is 100% AT&T. In Canada, all the major carriers offer iPhone, I've never had 1 dropped call, and you can get really awesome plans with a little negotioation with your provider because there is so much competition.
If iPhone was on another carrier.. all the complaints would be gone. At&T must give apple a ****load of money every year to be THE network.. cuz if it opened up, sounds like everyone would jump ship.

why not just get a ipod touch if all you want it is for the apps?? I got a BB with Verizon wireless service IMO best to make calls, and a jail broken itouch for music and the kick *** apps.

Sure seems interesting that Apple has been hiring CDMA Engineers. It seems like if there is a potential lawsuit from AT&T suing Apple over the Exclusivity Rights that a change to a CDMA / LTE Phone may be enough of a change to negate the potential lawsuit. Also it could be possible for Apple to even develop a new phone for the Verizon network instead of the iPhone if things really are too sticky to deal with from a legal standpoint.
All speculation and rumors at this point, but sure seems like a lot of signs are pointing towards AT&T no longer being the only network with the iPhone & Verizon finally getting a version of the iPhone.

I might end up joining the bandwagon too with the iPhone 4.
I was dead set on going HTC EVO 4G, but found a couple of reviews saying that the music sound quality is still better on iPhones and iPods. Not good since I listen to music all day long.
Any of you know if I can bring my own microSD to a Sprint store to test a few songs on their demo/display EVO, so I can make my own judgement?

problem with 4g is that nowhere in calif is 4g service...
heck, if you can make tons of phone calls from a sprint store, i see no reason for them to see if you can stick in a SD card into one... they may insist on them putting the card in...

you may laugh... but it's true. would the iphone sell if it was ****? even with the limitations posed by the iphone OS it's still a lot better to use than Android
even my 50 year old dad just switched from a Droid to the 3GS last month
in the end, I think it just depends on which carrier you are on lol

no doubt the iphone problems in the US is mostly ATT issues...
but, since ATT sucks in some of the cost (remember the $599 initial price?), do canadian carriers do that also? the subsidize prices?
i mean how much did you get you iphone for?

And if you get the EVO from Sprint, they FORCE you to pay for the 4G plan, even though you won't ever be in 4G coverage in CA.

I haven't done too much research on the new 4g services verizon and att are going to offer but aren't they both going to LTE? if thats the case, then it would make sense for verizon to get the iphone since apple can make the same phone for both carriers (instead of having to make 2 versions with different chips to work on gsm and cdma platforms).

verizon and at&t are both going to LTE - both networks have been buying up LTE equipment left and right.
verizon has a long road ahead of them if they want to go to full LTE and have it be backward compatible with CDMA. backward compatability aside, their LTE completion target date is still 3 years away, so it might make more sense for Apple to develop CDMA hardware.
the '4g' language is so misleading, btw.
