Wyotech

So I am thinking about taking Auto Technology classes at Wyotech, but I have a few Questions for those that have gone through Wyotech.

What did you think of the classes?

How much did it cost?

Was it all worth it?

Any and all thoughts/comments/replies will be greatly appreciated.

-Jourdan

he isnt a teacher in the automotive program but he is an instructor in the motorcycle course. and jourdan personally i didnt really think it was worth it when i was there a year n a half ago. i mean you do learn but its only worth it if you also take their smog classes but that will cost an extra like 12gs ontop of the already 24gs for the tuition.

From what I've heard other people post on here, it isn't worth it. It's over rated, over priced, and isn't a stand out feature on a résumé to most employers in the field.

I remember someone saying something to the effect of "Even dealerships don't hire Wyotech grads"

i went to UTI in sac...including tuition and rent was about 50k. glad i didnt stay in even with a 4.0gpa and 100% attendance. didnt learn much+ everyone i know that has gone to wyotech or UTI have ****ty low end jobs. in order to succeed in these technical automotive schools, you have to be in the top 10% of your class, and want to sign into their step programs. thats where all the money is

my cousin went to wyotech and graduated. granted he knows a lot about cars now and worked for mercedes and bmw at one point, he still got laid off when the economy went ****ty. he works at hertz now

a my ex-worker at the shop i worked at went to wyotech. he is lucky we hired him right out of school, and we were also lucky to find him because he is such a talented guy. although he works at a well known shop, it doesnt mean hes rolling in cash and living the life.

a friend of mine just graduated from wyotech. he just got hired at big o tires in walnut creek

the classes are a joke, my friend works at BMW in San Mateo. Most of the people that they give work to came from that school and they only give them like $13hr. The classes go to nothing it is a wast of time and money.

I also have had friends that went to go and end up working in a bay's in Pepboys....

Not worth it. A friend of mine went there and graduated only to get a low end job fixing RVs.

He gave up on it after about a year and now hes an EMT.

yeah from what i have seen its not worth it, the place kinda has a bad rep because they get the biggest retards coming out of the place. I heard back in the day when they were still sequoia they were good. but now its gone down hill.

I will agree with everyone aha. I went to Uti as well, and would say it's not really worth the 24k tuition :/. And with the auto industry being so down it's kinds hard to find a job unless you know someone. I have a couple friends that still don't have jobs that came out of school even after 2 years of graduating, maybe just lazy? Ahaha guess the only thing that helped was having it on my resume, but even some shops don't care if you went to either school cause the kids they run into are still clueless when working on a car.
