WTF is up with all this anti-gay stuff

Niners CB says openly gay players would not be welcomed on the team - Yahoo! Sports

Are these guys really this stupid? You are playing for a team located in the the gay capital of the world and you don't have the common sense to keep your mouth shut. This is 4 days before the super bowl. Shut up and play.

Teams need to start standing up for just common human decency. You spew this crap you get benched and fined. I mean $10k for your socks falling down but nothing from the teams for this? You talk **** about your team mates to the media... boom fine... benched without pay.

This self centered crap is irritating. Just because someone is gay it doesn't mean they want to screw you man. Suck it up and realize this... you have a great foot ball player standing next to you. He's your family. You're team mates. Friends. Etc. Who he wants to screw is none of your damned business. Period.

There's another common thread to these gay haters.... figure it out as it's a huge problem in society as well.

Yeah. Very upsetting to hear, especially days before the Superbowl. At least Brendon Ayanbadejo from the Ravens is trying to fight for gay rights/marriages.

one of the funniest comments i heard from the anti-gay side was: "well I just dont feel comfortable with two dudes making out right in front of me" Haha im not even comfortable with two straight people going at it right in front of me.

In all seriousness I have been wanting to research/compile a list of some of the insults, phrases and arguments from during the civil rights movements in the 60s. My expectation is that they will be for the most part be the same as what is coming up now. This is funny because a large majority of the african american community is on this anti-gay side.

In this case I am all for free speech but Culliver is representing his employer, the 49ers, who are big on the equality scene. You should look up his apology it's hilarious.

Ya know - I don't agree with the discrimination
BUT
If they are asking this guy, if he personally is uncomfortable with Gay's in the locker room. He has every right to say no.

Depends on who's numbers you're looking at.

Percentages it ranges from I think 4th to 10th. And pure numbers it ranges from 1-4 I think.

He has every right to STFU. What if they came in and said... are you comfortable having white guys on the team.... or asked a white guy... are you comfortable playing a sport with so many black men... and he said... NO.

What would the reaction be then? You are entitled to an opinion and a belief. You're also entitled to STFU. Especially 4 days before the biggest game of your career.

Stupid Meat Head.... Any public figure should know that he/she needs to constantly watch what they say and do. He could of just said 'people need to keep their personal life personal and professional life on the field' done. Now get ready for the gay community to unleash their colorful fury lol

Not that it really matters or is it on topic but..

The gay community in sf is pretty much localized to a few square blocks in the castro...the whole castro is not a gay district...

Per capita and in total numbers I'm sf is not first in either, maybe 10years ago, but as of recent new york and even tel aviv have surpassed sf...a few of my gay friends don't even like sf...castro is nasty - new york is where they all moved (I had a talk about this recently haha its fresh in my mind)

Just because sf is considered more tolerant doesn't mean its the "gayest"

Im gonna play the devils advocate here.

Whats so wrong about what he said if thats the way he feels? I mean people like Ray Lewis are always thanking god publically. God this, God that. What if Im agnostic or atheist and offended by what he said? Is he going to issue me a public apology on the way he feels?

Now I can see if Cully was bashing gays and saying they deserve to be beaten or whatever but he simply said he doesnt do any sweet stuff and wouldnt be comfortable with gays in the locker room. Whats so wrong about that if thats the way he feels or the way he was raised. I heard the apology too and it was very fake because you can tell he doesnt feel he did anything wrong. I feel if Cully has to apologize for the way he feels then so should Ray because Im offended by all his God talk.

Now this can turn into an argument for which I can kind of see both sides to this but this is how i view it:

The 49ers are the ones paying him his salary, as such he is an employee of the organization and thus reflects them. Anything he says or does is associated with them. In this case he is saying something that goes against what the organization is publicly trying to show(pro equality). An analogy would be if a high ranking(I only say this as their word would carry weight just like an athlete) employee of say apple goes around publicly disagreeing with Apple's corporate goals/projects/views. Its okay to speak your mind but it cant come without consequences in this case .

What's with everyone getting their panties in a bunch over one guy's opinion? These are animals that earn a living playing a ball game. Who gives a **** what they are thinking about?

He is a public figure. Like it or not it's part of the job description. Not only that, he is employed by the S.F. 49rs and the NFL. He is therefore a representative of both organizations.

When you make a public statement it's not just "an opinion" anymore.

Have any opinion you want. Keep it out of the papers. I'm sure there are TONS of homophobes and racists in the NFL. Just shut up and keep it out of the press. This is a distraction to the organization and the players.
