WTF subaru, so much for your jack points!

Was about to give my baby an oil change, grabbed the OEM jack from my trunk and placed it under the appropriate jack point as per the manual... I've done this at least a dozen times, this is what happened today:

From The bottom/side: (Picture is huge, too lazy to make it smaller)

I was about to place jack stands under when I heard a crack noise, followed by a large thud as the car hit the ground. The jack was wedged between the sideskirt and the rest of the car. Is this a major **** up on my part? I dont see how the hell this happened, not the way I wanted to spend my thanksgiving -_-"

Can I file a warranty claim?

time to smoke a bowl

Wow...I was just thinking about how great the Subaru jack was when I was trying to use the Mini one to jack my aunts car up... What a pos that is.

Hope you get that taken care of, it's hard to see the damage in one picture since I'm on my phone.

Used the jack points with little stock scissor jack on my GD for over 11 years, no probs. So either it's just you or the GV's are funky. At any rate, sorry to see that.

Yea, I've bent my down a little, but never saw anything like that. Looks like the jack might have moved or it was too close to the side skirt.

same here.
Sometimes when I jack up my car I'm afraid that my jack will go through the floor

doubt it, i always crank it up by hand and fit it into the little groove to make sure it's flush everytime. And then make sure the base is level on the ground as i continue to crank it up by hand, before using the bar to lift it the rest of the way

IDK, gonna take it into the stealership and see what they say. hopefully SoA covers it, maybe if I make enough noise about how I nearly died.

I've been jacking on those points just fine on my 09. Then again, I've never used the stock jack, I've always used a regular jack to lift her up.

If you're working underneath, use ramps or jackstands. They're safer than that flimsy thing.
Just sayin' .

Never had an issue with mine. Looks like it wasn't fully on the pinch weld.

But damn... new car.

i never had any issues even remotely close to what yours did, are you sure the pinch weld was on the groove?
